The Exiles return with a new international lineup and new songs for their traditional New Year gigs at the Vortex, where they’ve played sold-out shows for the past several years.…

The Cricketers Jazz Club at 228 London Road, Westcliff Essex  SS0 7JG.  Starting with a knock-out blow  into 2018 – our club invites Simon Spillett back to The Cricketers by popular demand.  His torrentially creative tenor saxophone explodes into the New Year to blow the cobwebs away!  Simon will be backed by Roger Curphey (bass), Alan Clarke (drums) and the wonderful Chris Kibble (piano). Digby Fairweather (trumpet) will be joining the front line – so expect sparks to fly!  The date is Weds January 10th – music starts at – but if you want to eat in the adjoining restaurant before the music starts, remember to book a table as the restaurant gets very busy on jazz nights. Tel 01702 345053. There is no entrance fee and parking is free at the nearby car park after . A great atmosphere with our regular troupe of lindy hoppers, which are fun to watch – or join them if you can keep up with them!
